2010 Honda Shadow VT750C2B Black Spirit - Available in black only!

    http://bikerholic.com/2009/09/04/201...-black-spirit/

American-style custom cruisers have a strong appeal for riders across Europe. As well as a low seat height and easy riding style, they come with a rebellious attitude and a style that sets their owners apart from the crowd. The Honda Custom range comes with extra-low seats, sensational V-twin engines and clean, maintenance-free drive shafts. Honda cruisers are built for laid-back, easy riding. Featuring authentic styling, they are also extremely good value to own and run, inspiring all kinds of riders, from entry-level to seasoned bikers.
In 2007 Honda launched the popular VT750DC Shadow Spirit. Based on the VT750 Shadow, it took similar design cues from classic cruiser tradition. However, the Shadow Spirit took the concept a step further with more traditional street rod styling, a leaner, meaner profile and a riding position that submerged the rider deep down in the bike for a thrilling experience of the engine’s power. A new PGM-FI fuel injection system intensified the ride while improving fuel efficiency and emissions, and a large 17″ front wheel gave it an unmistakable presence on the street.
In 2010 Honda proudly introduces the Black Spirit, an intense variation on the Shadow Spirit theme with authentic bobber styling and a pure, minimalistic spirit. In one basic colour, its bold character comes to the fore, making its beefy performance and easy ownership all the more pleasurable.

    Development Concept

The Shadow 750 Black Spirit is based around a low, triangular profile that places the rider in the middle of the ride, and is accentuated with exclusive styling details. Proven technologies ease handling and usability, and deliver a highly involving yet relaxed ride. The fuel injection system is tuned for smooth, responsive control, allowing riders to enjoy the engine’s power. The maintenance-free shaft drive and reliable liquid-cooled engine mean stress-free ownership. Riding the Shadow 750 Black Spirit is a stirring experience, and its aggressive attitude and streetwise confidence create its own authority on the street.
    V-twin power
The power at the heart of the Shadow 750 Black Spirit is supplied by the same 750cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine used in the Shadow Spirit. Its delivery is tuned for deep, rumbling pulses of power and torque. Accessibility and dependability are also essential to the Black Spirit experience, and the fuel injection system has been developed for quick throttle response and maximum fuel economy.
    Pure attitude
For its design inspiration the Shadow 750 Black Spirit goes back to its custom roots. Its clipped rear fender, triangulated profile, blacked out details and thumping engine acknowledge a heritage that reaches back for decades.
Styling - Smart, clean and sporty

To true custom bike aficionados, style is important and any lapse in attention to detail is unforgivable. The Shadow 750 Black Spirit is a perfectly turned-out celebration of an iconic style and culture. From its bobbed tail to its assertive front wheel, every contour is carefully styled. Its bold, kicked-out forks and raised handlebars provide the point of focus from which it leans back into a long, tapered tank.
The instrument panel is placed on top of the gleaming tank. It features a large, easily readable speedometer dial, a compact assembly of practical gauges and indicator lights and an eye-catching silver-painted cover. The seat is easily the lowest in the 750cc cruiser class and creates a deep riding position that allows an easy reach to the grips and a laid-back cruiser feel.
    Colouring Concept
The 2010 Shadow 750 Black Spirit is available in only one colour, a striking Graphite Black which is highlighted by a number of exclusive trims and details. As well as the fenders, tank and seat, the short, semi-drag-style handlebars receive a new black colouring. The tail-light, headlight, air cleaner cover and rear shocks are also black. The centrepiece is a striking, black-painted engine with cast-in fins that give it a traditional air-cooled look. These features present a strong contrast to the luxuriously gleaming silver of the dual muffler, front forks and custom-look rear fender struts. The overall image is sophisticated and clean-cut.
    Colours
    Graphite Black
    Engine
The liquid-cooled 52° V-twin engine powering the Shadow 750 Black Spirit is a time-proven standard of Honda excellence, essentially the same configuration that provides strong, dependable power to all our 750cc V-twin cruisers. Its compact shape allows the frame’s central backbone to be lowered, facilitating the cruiser’s long-and-low profile. The engine features a long-stroke, single-pin crankshaft configuration and optimal mass to enhance the feel of its low rpm torque peak. Efficient combustion and instant power thrusts are provided by SOHC three-valve cylinder heads with dual spark plugs, while close-ratio transmission delivers strong, exhilarating acceleration from anywhere in the engine’s power range. The sensation of strong, direct power delivery to the rear wheel is down to the machine’s enclosed shaft final drive. Requiring only minimal maintenance, the shaft drive operates smoothly and quietly while enhancing the feel of the engine’s power.
    Programmed Fuel Injection
Like the Shadow Spirit, the Black Spirit is equipped with a highly developed Honda PGM-FI fuel injection system, featuring an idle air control valve which precisely controls incoming air for smooth idling operation. The system ensures easy starting, instant throttle response and smooth, satisfying thrusts of acceleration. With accurate fuel flow monitoring, efficiency is also optimised, keeping both emissions and fuel consumption low.
    Hard-working exhaust system
The impressive chrome-plated dual shotgun exhaust pipes that accentuate the length of the Black Spirit chassis are more than just a visual accent on its street rod styling. They also pump out an exhilarating sound that combines with the throbbing feel of the engine to create an exciting ride sensation.
Each exhaust pipe is fitted with an oxygen sensor that feeds data to the fuel injection system’s ECU and a HECS3 (Honda Evolutional Catalyser System) low emissions system. This strictly regulates exhaust gases while still maintaining the engine’s capable performance and thrilling sound.
    Chassis
The engine’s power is contained in a slim, lightweight and rigid double-cradle steel frame that is both responsive and easy to handle. A large-diameter single tube backbone and pressed steel pivot plates combine in a low overall chassis height, allowing for low tank and seat positioning. The seat rails and chopped rear fender are supported by a cast sub-frame. The frame design is an important contributor to the sensational ride quality, transmitting enough primary vibration to maximise enjoyment of the engine’s performance without allowing it to become uncomfortable.
    Suspension, wheels and brakes
The extended 41mm front fork and 17″ front wheel create a remarkably responsive and comfortable package. On the left side, the shaft drive is integrated with the swingarm adding to the clean and simple look. The exposed rear shock absorbers are tilted forward, providing progressive damping and a comfortable ride with precise control. A fat 160mm rear tyre emphasises the sporty custom styling as well as adding to comfort. The powerful brakes perform with smooth efficiency. A large-diameter 296mm front disc with a responsive dual-piston caliper is paired with a conventional 180mm leading/trailing drum brake at the rear.
Equipment - Honda Ignition Security System (HISS)
The Shadow 750 Black Spirit is equipped with the Honda Ignition Security System (HISS). This disables the engine at the heart of its digital ignition system, allowing ignition only with one of its two original keys and preventing starting by hot-wiring. An LED indicator on the instrument panel warns off potential thieves.
    Optional equipment
Honda Access will offer a full range of customised accessories for the new VT750C2B Black Spirit, complementing its highly developed styling, comfort and versatility.

    2010 Honda NT700V Touring First Look !

    http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/624/45...irst-Look.aspx

The Honda NT700V is an all-new 2010 light-duty touring model from the Japanese marque.
Honda Motorcycles extends its street bike touring line with the release of the all-new NT700V. A mid-sized V-Twin, Honda pitches the new mount as “a light touring machine that’s fun, easy to ride and ready to carry you to work and play seven days a week.”

A liquid-cooled 52-degree V-Twin powers the new NT700V. The 680cc Twin sports an 81mm bore and 66mm stroke, with 10:1 compression ratio. A single overhead cam operates the four-valve cylinder heads. Like all Honda street bikes, the NT will source Honda’s programmed fuel injection (PGM-FI).

Steering geometry combines a 26-degree rake with 4.5 inches of trail. Wheelbase is 58.1 inches and the NT700V rolls on 17-inch hoops, with a 120/70 tire up front and a 150/70 rear. The reach to the ground is 31.7 inches from the NT’s seat.

    Powering the NT700V is a 680cc 52-degree V-Twin.
Honda’s linked combined braking system (CBS) brings the new design to a halt. The three-disc arrangement places dual 296mm rotors in the front, pinched by three-piston calipers, with a single 276mm disc and three-piston caliper in the rear. The braking can be upgraded to Honda’s full ABS system.

The chassis features a front 41mm fork with 4.5 inches of travel and a rear shock with 4.8 inches travel. Only the shock is listed as being adjustable, with a remote preload adjustment nob dialing in settings for the extra lbs a touring bike needs to carry. Honda’s claimed curb weight for the NT700V is 566 lbs for the standard models and 571 lbs for the ABS unit.

Bolstering its motorcycle touring creds, integrated luggage saddlebags come standard on the NT700V. The bags feature a “pass-through” space between both bags for longer items, which sounds interesting and potentially

The Honda NT700V luggage features integrated saddlebags, which have a pass-through area for wider items. An accessory top case is also available.
quite handy. A fairing blocks wind and weather from riders, along with the five-position adjustable windscreen. Ultimate range will depend on observed fuel economy, but the 5.2-gallon fuel tank should yield at least a 200 miles between fillings (an important threshold for any bike with touring aspirations – at least in our book...). Listed accessories will enhance touring abilities and include the pictured top box (left) and other add-ons like heated grips.

Style-wise, the NT700V looks to us like the forbidden love-child of the ST1300 and Kawasaki Versys. Which really would be a Romeo and Juliet romance if it were true…

Anyhow, the NT700V will be available in either Metallic Red or Metallic Silver, with the ABS version only available in Silver. No MSRP is yet listed for either model.

          Honda Confirms New VFR1200F and CB1100 !

Honda has confirmed its motorcycle lineup for the upcoming 2009 Tokyo Motorcycle Show, set for October 24 – November 4. Headlining the list is official conformation of a V-4 powered sport-touring motorcycle, the VFR1200F. Also slated to debut at Tokyo is the four-cylinder, retro-styled CB1100.

          Honda VFR1200F :

Honda is saving the details for Tokyo, but here’s what it has said about the new VFR. First, Honda confirms it is a “sport-touring bike.” So the mysterious new VFR is not a V-4 superbike as the enigmatic V-4 concept unveiled at last year’s INTERMOT Show hinted. Also confirmed is the VFR1200F will feature Honda’s new Dual Clutch Transmission, the first such design, Honda claims, “for large-displacement sport bikes.”

For more information on the Honda Dual Clutch Transmission check out the explanatory video below.

          YouTube - Honda dualclutch demonstration

Honda is still keeping official pics of the new bike under wraps (though intrepid readers will not have trouble finding the spy shots).

The CB1100 takes cues from its UJM CB predecessors, but will the new Honda become a production reality?

For the full details and specs of the new VFR1200F stay tuned for a complete first look report as soon as the information is available. We also have a pretty good hunch (wink) we might be riding the new VFR during an upcoming visit to Japan this October.

          Honda CB1100 :

Honda describes the CB1100 concept’s debut at the 2009 Tokyo Show as its “world premier.” However, the design looks quite reminiscent of similar CB-themed concepts shown at previous Tokyo shows. Sourcing retro lines from its UJM CB line, the CB1100 is obviously air/oil cooled with conventional forks, side-mounted rear shocks and dual disc front brakes. Beyond visual hints, there are no other specifics except Honda’s explanation that the new CB1100 “explores the potential of the air-cooled, 4-cylinder engine while building upon the aesthetic appeal and riding taste of the generations of CBs.”

Well, the potential of the CB1100 lined up against its vintage-themed competitors (e.g. Triumph Modern Classics, Ducati SportClassics and rides like the Moto Guzzi V7) seems great. But will it become a production reality? If so, will it head to the States? Will it be a relaxed street bike, or a high-performance standard?

Looks like we’ll have to wait until Oct 24 we’ll have more questions than answers.

American Honda memorializes Mike Traynor, co-founder of Ride for Kids!

                  Torrance, CA:

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today paid tribute to Mike Traynor, the co-founder of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) and Ride For Kids, who passed away September 12, 2009. As a token of respect, a tree has been planted as a living memorial on the American Honda campus in Torrance, California, along with a plaque commemorating his decades of work on behalf of many children afflicted with brain tumors.
“For more than 25 years, American Honda has enjoyed a wonderful working relationship with the PBTF and its Ride For Kids fundraising events. Beyond our relationship with the Foundation, we also enjoyed a close personal relationship with Mike. One big reason Mike and Honda were such a good fit is because we shared so much in common. Mike loved facing tough challenges head on,” said Raymond Blank, Senior Vice President of the American Honda Motorcycle Division.
“He knew research and technology were often the keys to winning. And he worked tirelessly—for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, but also as an ambassador for the sport of motorcycling.
"It seems very fitting that today’s memorial to Mike is a living memorial, a new beginning of life that will continue to grow strong for years to come. But as a greater sign of respect, Honda also intends to keep supporting the Ride For Kids—that’s really the proper tribute to Mike,” said Blank.

About The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation :

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization that seeks to:

2010 Honda Shadow Phantom First Ride!

The Honda Shadow Phantom sports a blacked-out retro-meets-new look for 2010. No shiny chrome and we like it.

The Honda Shadow has always been an attractive yet conservative entry-level cruiser, a wallflower in the V-twin world. This is no longer the case with the 2010 Shadow Phantom. Breaking free of the cookie-cutter styling of its brethren, the latest cruiser from Honda sports Rat Rod-looks. Custom styling off the showroom floor, coupled with Honda reliability, makes the Phantom an attractive option for riders looking for serious style on the cheap. And in this day and age, having the best of both worlds is always appealing.

Based on the tried-and-true Shadow platform, the Phantom shares many of the features that have made the small-range V-Twin a top choice for entry-level cruisers. The engine is the same 52-degree, 745cc mill used in the Shadow Aero and Spirit. However, the new bad boy in the family now has fuel injection to help bump up the power. Honda ditched the single 34mm constant velocity carburetor for a 34mm fuel injected throttle body with an automatic enrichment circuit.

Thanks to the new fuel injection system, the Phantom fires easily when the starter button is thumbed. The fuel mapping is excellent and silky smooth. On- and off-throttle shenanigans do little to upset the perfect fuel delivery. The newly injected motor puts out a decent spread of power, my seat-

Polished and chrome bits are kept to a minimum, though the Honda Phantom still commands attention wherever it goes.

of-the-pants dyno telling me it will easily run with the larger 850cc and 900cc machines offered by Honda’s competitors – just don’t tell their owners. Never was I left wanting or needing more power. The Phantom has plenty of beans to make everything from freeway sailing to around-town stoplight cruising enjoyable.

Although the new fuel injection is big news for this cruiser, the biggest eye-opener in my book is the styling. The Honda Shadow line has always been decent looking but safely styled, sometimes to a fault. The Aero and Sprit lack an edgy look that I personally feel cruisers need. Let’s be honest, you don’t ride most cruisers for the performance; they look cool and you don’t have to be a contortionist to log serious miles on them. The Shadows have always had the comfort in spades, but the cool factor was not there.

This new Phantom, however, looks like a genuine bad ass. Black wheels and matte grey finish on most of the bikes parts give a nod to the backyard hot rodders of days gone by. I’ve wanted to ride this bike since I first laid eyes on it months ago at the motorcycle show simply because it looks so cool. Of the many cruisers we’ve ridden in the past few years, I’ve got to stay the entry-level Honda dark horse got more comments from strangers than many before it. With the Phantom Honda has done Hot Rod better than most American cruisers made, and that’s saying a lot from a metric cruiser.

Not stopping with just some flat paint and black wheels, Honda has bobbed the fenders, lowered the ride, bent up some new bars and spooned on a set of fatty meats; 120/90-17 front tire sits under a small front fender making it look

The new Shadow offers a comfortable seating position with one's legs slightly more forward and the rider more upright as a result.

even larger, while tucked under the chopped rear fender is a 160-series rear bun.

A gun-fighter style seat sits just 25.7 inches off the ground, making the reach to terra firma easy those of nearly any inseam. You feel as if you are sitting in the bike as opposed to on top of it, bolstering confidence in the corners. The slightly forward pegs give a natural seating position that is comfortable for both long stints in the saddle as well as quick jaunts to the convenience store. The matte-black bars have a comfortable sweep and are an easy reach from the seat for all height riders; at 5-foot, 10-inches it was a breeze for myself, while Road Test Editor Adam Waheed, sitting well over 6-feet, was perfectly at home. Lever positioning and shape is typical Honda top notch, with equally good fit and finish.

In the handling department the Phantom performs admirably for a cruiser, though has some shortcomings for larger riders. The single 296mm front rotor squeezed by a twin piston caliper has excellent feel and more than enough stopping power of this size. The rear drum works as well as anyone can ask for a unit designed decades ago. Suspension duties are handled by a non-adjustable 41mm fork up front and dual five-way preload-adjustable shocks out back.

(Above) Powering the Phantom is a 745cc fuel-injected V-Twin engine. (Bottom) A single disc with dual piston caliper up front and a rear drum out back do well to bring the Phantom to a stop.

Unfortunately, here is where the Phantom falls a bit short for me. The 4.6 inches and 3.5 inches of suspension travel, respectively, is too softly sprung for my 225-lbs frame, and dampened even worse. The suspension blows through the stroke easily, causing it to rebound much too quickly. This gives a jarring ride down any road, no matter the county or state. Adding more rear preload doesn’t help the situation much. In fact, on the bigger bumps it makes things worse, causing the rear to rebound even quicker. I am probably heavier than the intended Phantom buyer, thus the harsh suspension should be better for those of the more ‘featherweight’ kind in most situations.

Despite the suspension’s relatively poor comfort performance, the Phantom handles the corners with a composure not seen in many ‘small’ cruisers. Bending the long and low cruiser into a corner takes the slightest effort. Once in the corner, the handling is neutral and predictable, provided there are no large bumps to upset the chassis. Road feel through the tires is excellent and you always know exactly where you stand in the traction department.

Ground clearance is standard fair for low cruisers, so long as you keep it at a leisurely pace. The folding footpegs touch down in the tightest corners, and when they do it doesn’t a upset the chassis much at all. During photo passes at the top secret MotoUSA proving ground, we scraped the pegs over and over but never had a problem with fixed parts coming in contact with the asphalt, which is where the real problems would start. Thankfully on the Phantom there’s no such concern.

The end of my testing days came quickly, and to be honest, I was actually a little disappointed to give the new ride back. After hopping on a different cruiser later that day, I realized just how good the Honda Shadow

Are the Phantom's stealthly new looks and quality fit-and-finish worth the extra greenbacks? Stay tuned to find out in out upcoming shootout!

Phantom really is. At $7999, it’s an excellent choice for anyone looking for a smaller bike with a big, trendy feel. Spot-on fuel injection, a comfortable ride, and the best cruiser bars I’ve held onto in a long time create one sweet ride. But to be one-hundred percent honest, I like the Phantom mostly because it downright looks bad ass, making smaller cruisers cool once again!

The Phantom may cost $1000 more than some of its stable mates, so the real question becomes: Is it worth the extra cash? The true tale will soon be coming to Motorcycle-USA.com with our mid-level multi-bike cruiser shootout that is currently in the works. So be sure to stay tuned!

UPDATE 1-Honda's India bike unit planning to expand

                      * To hit full capacity in FY11, looking to build 2nd plant

MUMBAI, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Japan's Honda Motor Corp's (7267.T) fully owned Indian bike unit plans to expand capacity to meet robust demand in a market that is growing about 20 percent annually, a company official said on Wednesday.
"We are doing an internal study on a second plant," said Shinji Aoyama, president and chief executive of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd, which will reach its full capacity of 1.5 million units in 2010/11.
He did not give details on the investment or the additional capacity.
India is the world's second-largest market for motorcycles and scooters, with annual sales of slightly over 8 million units. More than 15 million units are sold annually in China.

Honda Motorcycle expects to sell 1.25 million scooters and bikes in the current year ending March, and 1.5 million units next year.
"We cannot let our sales stagnate, we will take a decision soon," said Naresh Kumar Rattan, marketing and sales head. The company currently has a market share of 13 percent in India where another affiliate of the Japanese parent, Hero Honda Motors (HROH.BO), dominate with sales expected to exceed 4 million units this year. Last December, unlisted Honda Motorcycle made its entry in the popular 100cc bike segment, taking on Hero Honda in which Japan's Honda has 26 percent and India's Munjal family about 29 percent.
In 2010/11, Honda Motorcycle expects sales to rise 20 percent, powered by 110cc CB Twister bike, its first offering in this category that will compete with Hero Honda's Passion and Splendor and Bajaj Auto's (BAJA.BO) Discover DTSi. Two Brothers JUICE BOX™ Fuel Controller for Honda CBR1000 RR from Naza

Naza is now offering the Two Brothers Racing Kit for the Honda CBR1000 RR, which includes a Carbon Fibre exhaust system and a JUICE BOX™ Fuel Controller.
The fuel controller allows you to fiddle around with your CBR1000 RR’s fuel injection system. Consisting of integrated buttons and an LED display, it uses carburetor tuning logic for easy to understand fuel adjustments.

The control unit plugs are directly linked into the OEM wiring harness between the stock ECU and fuel injectors providing precise control of the engine’s fuel management system.
The system allows addition of fuel required with engine modifications without upsetting the stock fuel map. Everything can be done on the controller itself without external additional programming computers.

As for the exhaust system, that itself is said to provide a 2 horsepower increase – dyno-tested. The kit consisting of these two items are valued at RM3,564 but are part of the package when you buy a CBR1000 RR from Naza.
The CBR1000 RR that are fitted with these Two Brothers Racing exhaust system is differentiated with its colours of maroon and yellow.

MotoGP/ Moto2, in lumina reflectoarelor inaintea debutului sezonului 2010

Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha): "In sfarsit incepe!

A fost locul unde am obtinut primul meu podium in MotoGP, in 2008.

Am incredere deplina in echipa mea, dar si in mine insumi".

In 2008, Capirossi a depasit recordul brazilianului Alex Barros (276 de MP). In varsta de 37 de ani, Capirossi nu intentioneaza sa "se pensioneze" prea curand, italianul exprimandu-si dorinta de a participa si in sezonul 2012, atunci cand la clasa regina vor fi introduse motoarele de 1.000cc.

                            Moto2 - alegerea inspirata

Prim-planul in startul sezonului il va avea, insa, nou infiintata clasa, Moto2, motocicletele din aceasta categorie urmand a avea motoare Honda de 600cc in patru timpi si pneuri Dunlop.

                            "Zorro" vine in Moto2

Moto2 a atras atentia si actorului Antonio Banderas, spaniolul implicandu-se in Motomondialul de Viteza. Banderas va alinia la start echipa Jack&Jones by Antonio Banderas.

                            MotoGP in High Definition

Fanii vor putea urmari la televizor toate cursele in format HD, oficialii MotoGP avand in plan chiar si transmiterea curselor in format 3D.

TOKYO, Japan April 13, 2010 --- Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today revealed the latest prototype of the EV-neo electric scooter and announced plans to begin lease sales in Japan in December 2010 to businesses and individual business owners who provide mainly delivery services.

Honda developed the EV-neo, an electric scooter designed to provide the durability necessary for business use, envisioning a wide range of uses by businesses such as delivery services. Equipped with a lithium-ion battery and a brushless motor, EV-neo realizes excellent environmental performance with zero CO2 emissions in use. The battery is rechargeable using a household power source with attention given to the range per charge. Moreover, EV-neo provides performance equivalent to that of mass-market under-50cc gasoline engine motorcycles realizing a powerful ride even with cargo by leveraging the characteristics of a high-torque motor even at a low speed ride.

Under the key words of "quiet and clean" Honda held the world premier exhibition of the EV-neo concept model (under the name EVE-neo) at the 41st Tokyo Motor Show in 2009 as one of Honda's new-generation personal mobility products which will contribute to the realization of a low-carbon society while transporting people and cargo. The mass-market model of EV-neo is currently under development.

Honda will continue providing products with excellent environmental performance to more customers in order to contribute to global CO2 emission reduction efforts.
